Alli contains 60mg of Orlistat and can be purchased directly over the pharmacy counter after a brief clinical check. Xenical (and generic Orlistat 120mg) contains double the strength of the active ingredient and is a prescription-only medication.
The standard dose is one capsule taken with water three times a day. Take it immediately before, during, or up to one hour after your main meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Do not take more than three capsules in a 24-hour period.
Yes, it is highly recommended. Because Alli blocks a portion of fat absorption, it can also lower your body’s level of fat-soluble vitamins (Vitamins A, D, E, and K). You should take a daily multivitamin at bedtime (at least two hours after your last Alli capsule) to ensure your body absorbs the nutrients properly.
Alli can be taken continuously for up to six months. If you have been taking it for 12 weeks and have not managed to lose weight, stop taking it and speak to our pharmacist on Roman Road for an alternative weight management pathway.
